All Island Appliance Repair: Home Appliance Maintenance
Not maintaining your Nassau County home appliances can cause a lot of problems down the road. Some appliances can build up debris, causing clogs, breaks, and other issues. To avoid that, you will want to take the time to clean them regularly.
These are some tips to make your home appliances last as long as possible:
Check on Your Oven Door
Over time, the seal on your oven door can wear out. This home appliance repair task is simple and fast- but you need to know it’s broken first. When not properly sealed, your oven can not cook through food entirely, which is unsafe. Plus, cook times are going to increase, as well as your electric bills.
Start by inspecting your oven door. You should see a rubber seal around the edge of the door. You can check it for rips, dents, tears, or other problems. If you close the door and notice it’s hard to shut, there could be a problem with the seal. We have repaired many ovens since we opened in Nassau County. We can easily fix your seal with a quick appliance repair, so you can get back to safely cooking your favorite meals.
Check on Your Fridge’s Coils
No one thinks to clean the back of their fridge. Over time, dust and debris can build up there and cause clogs. That makes your refrigerator have to run harder to keep your food cold. When that happens, the fridge wears out faster and starts draining your money.
Once a year, take a vacuum and suck up the debris clinging to the back of your fridge. It is easy and takes little time to do. When finished, you can feel confident you have extended the lifespan of your fridge and avoided costly appliance repair.
Check the Washing Machine Hoses
If you are worried about a washing machine flood, you will want to check the hoses that connect to the back of the machine. We can help you if you notice any signs of damage on the hoses by supplying a quality appliance repair. All Island Appliance Repair has worked with many washers in Garden City, NY and knows we can help you too.
How old are your hoses? If they are more than five years old, make sure to replace them as soon as you can. They are much more likely to give out at that age.
Clean the Dryer Exhaust
Next, make sure that you clean the dryer exhaust. Not only does this help the appliance run at maximum efficiency, but you also remove a potential fire hazard from your home. Cleaning is simple too. If you need any help in Garden City, NY, we are here to help you!
To clean the exhaust, remove it from the back of the dryer. Then, take out any pieces of lint you see in the hardware. Using a straight, metal coat hanger is good for removing clumps of lint. When done, you can also use your vacuum back there before reassembling the dryer.
Clean Your Air Conditioner
Air conditioners are an appliance we usually don’t think needs cleaned. Clogged filters can cause a lot of problems, however. They greatly reduce the machine’s ability to run, causing higher energy bills. Simply removing dust from the filters ensures they will last a very long time.
This process can be completed differently depending on the model and year your air conditioner was made. Contact us if you are unsure of what to do with the filters.

Garden City is an incorporated village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population of the village was 22,371.
In 1869, the Irish-born millionaire Alexander Turney Stewart bought a portion of the lightly populated Hempstead Plains. In a letter, Stewart described his intentions for Garden City:
Having been informed that interested parties are circulating statements to the effect that my purpose in desiring to purchase the Hempstead Plains is to devote them to the erection of tenement houses, and public charities of a like character, etc. I consider it proper to state that my only object in seeking to acquire these lands is to devote them to the usual purposes for which such lands, so located, should be applied that is, open them by constructing extensive public roads, laying out the lands in parcels for sale to actual settlers, and erecting at various points attractive buildings and residences, so that a barren waste may speedily be covered by a population desirable in every respect as neighbour taxpayers and as citizens. In doing this I am prepared and would be willing to expend several millions of dollars.
The central attraction of the new community was the Garden City Hotel, designed by the acclaimed firm of McKim, Mead & White. Although the original structure, as well as that which replaced it at the end of the 19th century, were torn down years ago after a fire, a rebuilt hotel still stands on the original grounds, as do many nearby Victorian homes. Access to Garden City was provided by the Central Railroad of Long Island, another Stewart project which he undertook at the same time. The railroad’s Hempstead Branch opened in 1873.
